The Airports Operators Association has awarded Gatwick 'Best Airport', 'Best Overall Campaign' and 'Best Solution' at the trade body's annual ceremony, hot on the heels of Gatwick's 'Airport of the Year' win at the National Transport Awards.
Gatwick won the NTA 'Airport of the Year' accolade after transforming the airport with a £2.7 billion investment programme, doing so while also maintaining strong customer service, and for its Airline Moves project, which saw Gatwick’s three biggest airlines seamlessly switch terminals over a 72 hour period - creating new and interesting opportunities for advertisers across the airport.
The airport’s new waste plant is a world first and rightly won the ‘Best Solution’ award for treating waste onsite, converting it into renewable energy and lifting the airport's recyclying rate to 64% - the best for any UK airport. It's 'Best Overall Campaign' win comes as a result of its safety week, with its airfield safety team focusing on all aspects of improving airport performance.
Gatwick Airport is the UK’s second largest airport and the most efficient single-runway airport in the world, and a key part of Primesight's 11-strong airport portfolio, offering creative advertising opportunities for brands to reach 136 million passengers a year.
Of particular note for advertisers is that Gatwick is another Primesight airport seeing the benefits of continued growth: it's on the verge of serving 46 million passengers. Over the past 12 months alone, 22 new long-haul routes have been added, taking the total to 60 long haul destinations.
